Israel Palestine Conflict: Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said on Tuesday (February 6) that Hamas has reacted ‘positively’ to the latest Gaza ceasefire plan and the release of hostages.

This reaction of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani came after meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is on his new tour in the Middle East. Qatar’s PM said that Hamas’s response is generally positive. The US Secretary of State said that he will tell Israeli leaders about this.

Responded in positive spirit-Hamas

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hamas said it responded to the ceasefire proposal ‘in a positive spirit’, but still wants a complete ceasefire and an end to the offensive, Euro News reported.

Qatar has long mediated with Hamas and is working with the US and Egypt to broker a ceasefire that would include a long-term halt to the fighting and the release of more than 100 hostages still held in Gaza.

Will tell Israeli leaders about Hamas’s response – Antony Blinken

Qatar’s prime minister gave no details on Hamas’ response but said the group had “comments.” Antony Blinken confirmed that officials had received Hamas’s response and said he would brief Israeli leaders when they visit the country on Wednesday (February 7).

The US Secretary of State also met Egyptian officials earlier in the day and was in Saudi Arabia on Monday. He is making this visit to emphasize the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Al Jazeera’s report also said that Hamas has officially responded positively to the hostage agreement, but the US and Qatar say that it will take time for the fighting in Gaza to stop.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has said that every possible effort should be made to avoid Israeli attack on Rafah city of southern Gaza. He said that this could lead to loss of lives on a large scale.

How many lives have been lost in the war between Israel and Hamas so far?

The Palestinian Health Ministry said at least 107 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza in the last 24 hours. According to Al Jazeera, at least 27,585 people have been killed and 66,978 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. At the same time, the number of people who lost their lives in Israel due to Hamas attacks during this period is 1,139.
